The holy Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand remains open for devotees only for a brief period of six months of the year. The Char Dham Yatra opening date 2022 is from 3rd May 2022. 

Every year the temples open from April to November. The opening dates depend upon the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya also known as Akha Teej, while the closing dates depend on the festivities of Vijay Dashami, Bhai Dooj, and Diwali. In 2022, the starting date of the Char Dham Yatra was changed and the tentative closing dates of Char Dham Yatra are 20th November 2022. The dates are fixed after considering the Panchang, the Hindu calendar. The dates are usually declared by the Char Dham temple committee along with the Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti.

The Yamunotri Temple and Gangotri Temple open on the day of Akshaya Tritiya every year followed by the portal opening of Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple after a couple of days. Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham close on Yama Dwitiya/ Bhai Dooj whereas the Gangotri Dham closes on the day of Diwali. And the closing date of the Badrinath temple decides on the day of Vijaya Dashami.

Yamunotri Temple Opening & Closing Dates

The Yamunotri Dham is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. The opening date of Yamunotri Temple 2022 falls on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya when the temple gates open up for Yatris (pilgrims). The closing date of Yamunotri Dham is also related to the auspicious occasion of Bhai Dooj. Devotees can pray for peace and seek blessings at Yamunotri Temple from 18 September 2022 to 2nd November 2022 this year.

Gangotri Temple Opening & Closing Dates

Gangotri Temple is another Dham, which is dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The temple opens up its gates for devotees on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. This year the Gangotri Dham opening date is 18th September 2022, which has been changed due to pandemic and it will close on 2nd November 2022 - on the day of Diwali in 2022. 

Kedarnath Temple Opening & Closing Dates

Kedarnath Yatra 2022 start date is from 7th May 2022.


Badrinath Temple Opening & Closing Dates

Another highly sacred Dham in Uttarakhand is Badrinath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In 2022, the Badrinath opening date is 8th May 2022. The Badrinath Temple opening dates and closing dates are decided on Basant Panchmi and Dussehra Eve (Vijaya Dashami) respectively. The temple remains open for six months and the rest of the year it remains closed due to heavy snowfall. Badrinath Temple's closing date 2022 is 20th November 2022.


Schedule of Chardham Yatra begins?

Every year during Akshay Tritiya (also known as Akha Teej) the doors of Yamunotri and Gangotri opens for the pilgrims. However, the dates for the door openings of Badrinath is declared on Basant Panchami and for Kedarnath, it is declared on the day of Maha Shivratri.

With Airtel and BSNL telecom services, there is a good cellular phone and internet connectivity in Chardham Temples.

Q. How is Char Dham during the Monsoon Period ?

Even though there are chances of landslides and road blockage during the monsoon season between July and September, you can still visit Chardham safely.

Q. Snowfall on the 4 Dham Temples route and shrine?

From the first week of October up to Diwali festival, snowfall in 4 Dham Temples starts to occur.

Q. Minimum duration are required to visit Char Dham from Delhi or Haridwar/Rishikesh?

From Delhi, a minimum of 12 days and from Haridwar/Rishikesh a minimum of 09 days are required to visit 4 Dham.

What is the position of the road condition of char Dham Route?

The road condition to Char Dham Route is good letting one travel without any hassle.

Q. Chardham Mandirs of Garhwal Himalayare open during the monsoon season?

Chardham Yatra for the pilgrims opens from April/May to October/November. So, one can plan a trip to Char Dham Temples of Garhwal Himalayas during the monsoon season as well (keep one or two days extra in hand)

Q. Procedure to reserve accommodation for our Chardham Tour?

The accommodation booking of Chardham Yatra depends on our client’s requirement there are basic and deluxe options available to suit guest choice and budget.

Q. Is any medical certificate required for Char Dham Yatra?

The Chardham Temples, especially Kedarnath are situated at an elevation of more than 3,000m from sea level. One needs to be physically fit to accomplish the journey to Chardham Yatra. For this reason, medical certificates with proper tests of Vertigo, Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS), High Blood Pressure and more, ensures that you eligible for the journey.

In addition to this, pilgrims also need a Biometric Certificate which is provided by the Uttarakhand Government. The registration for biometric certificate can be done both online and offline.

Q. Can we find any government-approved prepaid taxi booth available in Delhi /Haridwar/Rishikesh for Char Dham Yatra?

Offcourse Yes, there is government-approved prepaid taxi booth available in the important destinations including Delhi, Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Q. Will you provide a local sim card to an international tourist?

Yes , we do provide local sim card as per our client’s requirement (share copy of Identity like passport or else in advance for the facilitations)

No only permit is required for Kedarnath which our driver arrange for our clients.

Spiritually, it is not recommended to carry wine or tobacco in the premises Chardham Temples
