Tour Details

Varanasi or Kashi is believed to be older than any history, older than any tradition, older even than legends and looks twice as old as all of them put together, said the famous American writer and traveler after visiting Varanasi in the late 19th century. Varanasi is among the oldest continuously lived cities in the world. Also famously known as Benares, Banaras, or Kashi, it is the sacred and Holy city for Hindus Kashi is one of the holiest places in India and Kashi Vishwanath Temple here is one of the main Jyotirlinga. Hindus believe Kashi was estd by Lord Shiva and archeological findings have revealed that Vedic people lived here in the 11th or 12th century BCE. Parshva, the 23rd Jain Tirthankara is also supposed to have lived here around the 8th century BC. Gautama Buddha started Buddhism here, when he gave his first preaching at Sarnath, just 10 km away. In the 8th century, Adi Shankara declared Lord Shiva as the official deity of the city.

Varanasi continues to be an important center of learning from ancient times and has always been a center for subjects like philosophy, yoga, Ayurveda, astrology, music, and literature. The iconic first Sanskrit college of India was founded by the British in 1791 and Annie Besant estd the Central Hindu College here in 1898, which later became part of the famous Banaras Hindu University, set up in 1916. Varanasi is among the most visited tourists in India both by foreign and Indian travelers. To attract more tourism to Kashi govt of India is developing The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor which is like a heritage walk from Vishwanath Temple to Varanasi Ghats.

Prayagraj is crowned in ancient scriptures as ‘Teertharaj’ and is considered one of the holiest pilgrimage centers of India. The Kumbh is held in four sacred places in India and Prayagraj is one of them. A city of many dimensions is what befits the description of Prayagraj. In addition to being a major pilgrimage center, the city has played an important part in the formation of modern India. Hindu mythology states that Lord Brahma, the creator, chose a land for the 'Prakrishta Yajna'. This land, on the confluence of three holy rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, blessed by gods, came to be known as Prayagraj. Prayagraj became the headquarters of Northwestern Provinces, after being shifted from Agra. Many important events in India's struggle for freedom took place here.Ayodhya, also known as Saket, is an ancient city of India, is the birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram and the setting of the great epic Ramayana. Ayodhya used to be the capital of the ancient Kosala Kingdom. It has an average elevation of 93 meters (305 feet). Owing to the belief as the birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram, Ayodhya (Awadhpuri) has been regarded as the first one of the seven most important pilgrimage sites (Mokshdayini Sapt Puris) for Hindus.

Chitrakoot, a small town situated in the north Vindhyan range, is located over the districts of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh and Satna in Madhya Pradesh. It holds great importance according to Hindu mythology and the epic Ramayana. Legends have it that Chitrakoot was the place where Lord Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshmana stayed for eleven and half of their fourteen years of exile making it a revered site among pilgrims.

According to Ramayana, Chitrakoot was the place where Bharata, brother of Ram came to visit Ram and ask him to come back to Ayodhya and rule the kingdom. It is also believed that the principal gods of Hindus, (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) took incarnations here. This divine city is also known as the 'Hill of many wonders and it totally justifies the name. Chitrakoot mountain range has numerous places of great religious importance like Bharat Milap Temple, Hanuman Dhara, Janki Kund and much more. It is indeed the gift of nature and the gods.

Chitrakoot is also the place where Goswami Tulsidas, author of 'The Ramcharitmanas', spent many years of his life. There are many lively fairs which are organized on different occasions and festivals. Not many know that Chitrakoot is also home to the only university in the world specially made for the differently-abled, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University.
